(Ralph Waldo Emerson)

The history

The first documented mention of the Oberraindlhof is dated 20th August, 1581. This former farmstead structure that you see today is over 200 years old. In 1880 our great-grandfather Anton Raffeiner, a master shoemaker, purchased the property and began to rent rooms in the early 1900s. The first guests were summer tourists, or „Sommerfrischler“.

As farming only covered basic needs, Grandfather Anton Raffeiner learned shoemaking. His business, with 6 employees, flourished throughout Italy. After our father Anton Raffeiner closed the shoe factory in the 1960s, the family began to concentrate more on the hospitality business.

Locals began to meet at Oberraindlhof over a glass of wine. In the early 1970s, the rooms were renovated and brought up to the standard of the time. The new construction and the winter garden were added and modified in the years between 1993 and 2003. The new timber house was opened in December 2006. The newer structure got another renovation in 2016 with the addition of 9 new rooms and a cosy spa area.
