Mountain Huts and Inns in the Schnalstal Valley – summer on the mountain

What could be better than a hearty snack, freshly-baked strudel or warm, sweet „Schmarrn“ after a strenuous hike?

Here you’ll find the prettiest mountain inns and huts with food service at a glance:

We’d be happy to send you additional information on hiking tours, trails and places to stop in the Schnalstal Valley. Just send us a short email, including your name and address, at info@oberraindlhof.com. We’ll mail you a variety of maps and brochures.

And of course you can always ask us about the region while you’re here.

Teufelsegg hut - 2,442m

The first time we may open our Teufelsegg hut also from 1 of July to 10 of September 2023. We are very much looking forward to this new task. And of course even more, if you come to visit us there too. Our opening hours are: 10 am - 4.30 pm - Thursday day off. You can reach us via hiking trail 3 from Maso Corto or with the chairlift Roter Kofel (runs from 10 am - 4.30 pm).

Our menu - summer 2023

Schutzhütte Schöne Aussicht – Maso Corto/Kurzras – 2,842m

One of the most beautiful mountain refuges in the magnificent mountains of South Tyrol, with a view of the Hochjochferner Glacier.

Lazaunhütte – Maso Corto/Kurzras – 2,427m

Beautiful ascent through the Langgrubtal Valley and Lazaun’s high plateau, with breathtaking flora and fauna.

Bergl Alm – Maso Corto/Kurzras – 2,214m

The ascent through the Lagauntal Valley is a must for every visitor to the Schnalstal Valley. It is easily reachable.

Finailhof – Vernago/Vernagt – 1,952m

The Finailhof, once the highest corn farm in Europe, offers excellent food as well as a terrific view of Vernago Lake.

Tisenhof – Vernago/Vernagt – 1,814m

Tisenhof is a popular eating establishment for hikers and cyclists, located directly on the European Long-Distance Trail E5. The area above Vernago Lake is the stuff of dreams.

Similaunhütte – Vernago/Vernagt – 3,019m

The breathtaking landscapes of the Similaunferner Glacier, the splendid view and the excellent service from the Pirpamer family more than compensates for the tough ascent.

Mastaun Alm – Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau – 1,810m

Accessible to all due to its unique location. This quaint mountain inn is a „must-do“ for everyone on ski holiday in Schnalstal Valley. It can be reached directly from Oberraindlhof.

Lafetz Alm – Madonna di Senales/Unser Frau – 2,015m

This hut, arguably the valley’s most authentic, is easily reached from Oberraindlhof. Here you’ll get a sense of authentic South Tyrolean tradition.

Penaud Alm – Certosa/Karthaus – 2,316m

This hut, too, can be reached by hiking from Oberraindlhof through the wild and romantic Penaudtal Valley. The high valley is an insider tip, and the inn’s offerings round out a true hiking experience.

Kloster Alm – Certosa/Karthaus – 2,152m

This hut above Certosa can also be reached on foot from the hotel. It’s a splendid place to stop for a bit of refreshment after a tour to the Kreuzspitze peak and Saxalbsee lake.

Mitterkaser Alm – Pfossental Valley – 1,954m

The Pfossental Valley is surely a highlight of any hiking holiday. The Mitterkaser Alm has a rustic charm and can be easily reached.

Rableid Alm – Pfossental Valley – 2,004m

The Rableidalm is our special insider tip. A true gem in the heart of the Pfossental Valley. Heidi, Babsi and Stoffl will make you feel right at home. They also have excellent, home-made cheeses. Something of the Rableidalm can even be found at Oberraindlhof ... :-)

Eishof – Pfossental – 2.071m
