The Schnalstal Valley is one of the founding members of the „European Hiking Villages“. This association designates hiking regions with a coherent offer of trails, with the goal of providing guests with a comprehensive experience of hiking and nature. The mythical landscape of the Schnalstal Valley extends from the gentle vineyard hills in the valley to the majestic glaciers of the Ötztal Alps. The place where the Iceman was discovered, a former monastery, the old farmsteads, the rustic mountain inns and traditions dating back thousands of years, such as the transhumance, round out its offerings as a European Hiking Village. Important requirements for members include certification are well-marked trails, adventure paths, host knowledge and hiking opportunities.
