The Schnalstal Valley has lovely hiking and sunny walking paths in winter too. Peaceful, well-maintained winter hiking paths lead through snowy woods, for example the path to the cosy Lazaun Hütte mountain hut. If you’d like you can toboggan from there back down into the valley. In between one can tarry in the pleasant inns and taverns, which are open all year. There you can warm up and recharge over pastry and mulled wine.
Here are a couple of beautiful winter hiking paths and walking paths, which are ideal for sunny days.
Oberraindlhof – Mastaunhof
From the hotel one takes the pilgrimage path towards Mastaunhof farm. This simple route takes about one hour. The route is also suitable for snowshoes.
Oberraindlhof – Karthaus
Directly from the hotel over the „Prantl“ path into the idyllic hamlet of Certosa/Karthaus. This is a popular path and is regularly maintained. Certain passages may be icy and require the necessary equipment to cross them.
Winter hike to Finailhof
This lovely winter hiking path takes you from the parking area at the south end of the Vernago Lake Reservoir on paths No. 7 or 8A to the Finailhof farm in one hour.
Winter hike to the Raffeinhof
At the Vernago Lake Reservoir there is a second very nice walking path which leads from the reservoir over Tisenhof to Raffeinhof farms in just under an hour.
Winter hiking in Maso Corto
This short circuit hike lasts about ¾ hr and is an ideal hike for sunny days. From the lower station of the Schnalstal Valley Glacier Cable Car pass the lower station of the Roter Kofel chair lift, continue to Reitstall, over the panorama trail to the Schutzhütte Schöne Aussicht refuge and the Topresidence Kurz. One then returns to the village square.
